weight loss smoothie

I lost 4.2 pounds of body fat on a 28 day food and fitness challenge and this is the smoothie I ate every single morning to help keep me accountable. This satiating macro balanced superfood delight set up the rest of my day for success. Plus it’s delicious and on-trend for fall with the coveted flavor of the season: pumpkin spice.

I eat this smoothie warm, in a bowl, with a spoon. Yes, I said warm. My dosha in ayurvedic medicine is primarily vata, which means that eating warm foods is more harmonious for my digestive system. I find that because my circulation is so poor, eating a cold smoothie causes me to uncomfortably shiver. When I do eat a cold smoothie, I usually have to enjoy it outside in the sun like an amphibian (insert lizard emoji here, haha). If the idea of a warm smoothie bowl is whack to you, then I encourage you, by all means, to use oat milk or cold water in place of my heated up tea.

This recipe is vegan, heart-healthy, no added sugars, gluten-free and organic. It is high fiber, high protein & macro balanced for a 30/30/40 ratio of protein/carbs/fat.
