Sugar. America’s cryptonite.
America runs on sugar. I mean, we’re the founder of ‘death by chocolate’ desserts, cheesecake factories, and vermont maple syrup. Sweets, pies, cakes, cookies… they’re an integral part of our story. And believe me, a part I sincerely enjoy.
My sweet tooth is deadly. No matter how rich or savory my meal, I always get a hankering for something sugary afterwards. And once I’ve gotten into a habit of indulging, it’s nearly impossible to break. To the point where that craving for something sweet has to be met after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I’m not alone, of that I’m sure. But even if you’re not a ‘sweets person,’ I’m sure you’re probably getting plenty of the white stuff. Conglomerate America sneaks sugar into just about everything. Hidden in your coffees, baked into bread, loaded in ketchup and bbq sauces, dressings and spreads. It goes by all different names…. sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup, barley malt, dextrose, maltose, rice syrup… but the effects are all the same. Weight gain, irritability, diabetes, energy spikes and crashes, aging skin.
So in an effort to break my sugar-addiction, I cut the sweet stuff down to a minimum. And here’s what happened:
My skin & mood improved, regular foods started tasting better and more flavorful and I no longer was acting like a ravenous and starved animal between meals.
Here’s my quick video on 5 things that will happen to your body when you cut sugar!
